Hi everyone!
Your AI and innovation in construction update for October 5, 2026.
The short version: AI is getting easier to use away from a desk, and there’s a simple setting that can make a big difference when you’re asking it to do harder work.
1. Try a walk-and-talk with AI
Gemini Live lets you turn on your phone camera while you’re talking to it.
Point your phone at what you’re looking at, keep talking as you move around, and Gemini can see what you see while carrying on the conversation.
For example:
"Drywall is complete here, electrical rough-in is still outstanding, and this door frame needs to be checked."
At the end, ask:
“Summarize what I showed you and what I said. Give me the key observations and anything I said needs follow-up.”
The nice part: you can try this on the free Gemini app.
Why contractors should care: Less typing, less trying to remember everything later, and a much easier way to capture what you’re already seeing on site.

2. Give AI more time when the job is harder
If you use ChatGPT, don’t use the same setting for every job.
Instant: quick emails, rewriting and simple questions.
Medium or High: comparing information, planning, working through requirements, numbers or anything where getting it right matters more than getting it fast.
If you’re using the free version, use the Think button for harder questions.
Simple rule: easy job, quick setting. Harder job, give it more time to think.
And as always, don’t upload confidential bid pricing, financial information, payroll, personal information or client-confidential material unless you’re using an approved account and know your company’s rules.
Thanks,
Sue
